Kyu-Karuizawa Ginza
The historic high street of Karuizawa, lined with cafés, bakeries, and small boutiques. A favorite for an afternoon stroll, an ice cream in summer, or a quiet morning coffee.
Kumoba Pond
A still, mirror-like pond surrounded by larch and maple. Especially beautiful in autumn, when the trees turn and the water reflects them perfectly.
Shiraito Falls
A 70-meter-wide curtain of water threading down a moss-covered cliff, fed by underground springs. Cool, even in the height of summer.
Hoshino Area
A wooded riverside village of cafés, restaurants, and small shops. Home to Harunire Terrace and a tradition of forest hospitality that defines modern Karuizawa.
Mt. Asama
The active volcano whose silhouette defines the Karuizawa skyline. Best viewed from the high meadows, with autumn grasses sweeping toward its base.
Onioshidashi
A surreal landscape of black lava rock formed by the 1783 eruption of Mt. Asama. A short walk through twisted stone, with Asama herself rising overhead.
